Lymm is a picturesque village and a civil Parish Church in Cheshire notable for its historic buildings. These include the French-style terracotta former town hall, St Peter's Church, Oughtrington Hall and Lodge, Lymm High School and Lymm Hall. The Parish Church of St Peter is an example of Gothic Revival architecture. St Mary's Church overlooking Lymm Dam, was in a state of disrepair by the mid-1800s so the Leigh family commissioned the noted architect John Dobson to rebuild it. The 1521 tower was retained and raised, however needed additional stonework which meant the tower was rebuilt in 1887. In the centre of the village is Lymm Cross listed a Grade I building dating all the way back to the 17th century. Passing through the centre of Lymm is Bridgewater Canal, the Manchester ship canal passes to the North and to the Eats the River Bollin flows along the village's border.

Association football is played at Lymm FC, Lymm Rovers FC and Lymm Piranhas JFC, while Lymm Rugby Union Club field 4 teams on a regular basis. Angling is also highly taken part in at Lymm Dam, Meadow View, Whitbarrow Road and Statham where there are three man-made lakes stocked with a variety of fish, Angling is presented by Lymm Angling Club. Lymm is packed with sports facilities such as Lymm Golf Club, Lymm Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Lymm Oughtrington Park Cricket Club and Lymm Leisure Centre. One of the many Horse Riding venues in North Cheshire is Burford Lane Farm and Crown Green Bowling takes place on Stage Lane.

With Lymm village being so scenic some television series have been filmed such as Candy Cabs in 2011 and After Hours in 2014. Ian Brown lead singer of The Stone Roses, Chris Bisson acted in Coronation Street and Shameless and Tim Booth lead singer of James also reside in Lymm.

In Lymm there are plenty of beautiful walks and cycle paths such as Lymm Dam which leads a path around flowing water, Spud Wood full of wildlife and nature and the Transpennine Trail which travels right through lymm and other places depending on how far you venture. Every Christmas Eve Lymm holds a Carol Service next to Lymm Cross Where families and friends get together and take part in a festival event. During Easter Weekend Lymm also holds Lymm Duck Race where thousands of little yellow ducks are launched into Lymm Dingle and race to the finish line, this is a fun way the Lymm raise money for charity and community causes.
